Journey Into Mission

Transcripted from the announcement given by Jayne Dakin during the Sunday morning service on March 29th, 2003.

Just after Christmas John told us all that we were embarking on a programme that’s been devised by Paul Weaver for the Assemblies of God Churches. And this programme is being done by John with the leadership team, Melvyn, Paul and Garry and with their wives, and also with Ali and Kate.

We are now in to the fifth meeting of the programme of which I am acting as Facilitator.

The whole programme is aimed to give us a clearer picture of where we want the church to go and a firmer sense of what the foundations are and what the values are that we want the church to grow and operate by.

It’s been very hard and stimulating work so far, but very enjoyable (so they keep telling me).

When we’ve got further into the programme we’ll share more with you of what we’ve done. At the moment it doesn’t feel that it would be particularly helpful to share what we’ve done because it would be quite a lot of the bits and pieces that we’ve discussed so far, but as soon as we get to the stage where there is more to share we’ll do that.

In the meantime if you’ve got any questions about what we’ve been doing, please ask any of the team – they’ll be happy to share. It’s not a secret society. It’s a lot of hard work and discussion, but everyone will be happy to discuss it with you.

And finally, it does feel like really exciting work to be involved in and I think we all believe it will help us grow and develop as a Church and we would really appreciate your prayers over what we are doing. I would particularly appreciate your prayers on a Tuesday night as I try to facilitate. An extra boost on Tuesday night would help me enormously.

Joking apart I think that creating a clear picture for the vision and the purpose of this Church is really really important and is something that we all feel we can do better; so your prayers and support really are important and valued.
