I was brought up in a religious kind of family but it
was not until the revival crusade of George Jeffries in Nottingham that
my parents committed their lives to Jesus Christ and entered into a
close relationship with God.
Prior to this event, I became very ill with a fever,
which lasted for many weeks. A member of the church believed God’s
word that if we pray for the sick, in the name of Jesus, they will
recover. He came to pray for me, anointed me with oil and I was healed.
This prompted the family to start attending these revival meetings,
which were held in Halifax Place, the Lace Market, Nottingham. This was
close to the Elim Four Square Gospel Church. During one such meeting,
the preacher spoke about the second coming of Jesus Christ in which
people who believe in Jesus Christ would be taken up quickly (raptured)
to be with Jesus in heaven.
The war clouds were gathering and I realised if Hitler
won the war I may never get another chance to accept Jesus as my
personal saviour. It was then I committed my life to serve God and
accept Him as my saviour before it was too late. I did not want to be
left behind in a terrible Godless world.
My challenge is, get to know God today! You will never
regret it! Tomorrow may be too late! Jesus is coming again and He will
come when you least expect Him.
