"Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings".
Our aim
for the street teams is to take Gods presence out into the streets where
people live. We will be praying for streets, houses and peoples lives
within these areas. We will let God's love flow from within us to the
people we meet. We will stop and talk to anyone of any age and
background, to become friends with them. Allowing them to get to know
us and trust us, hopefully they will be able to share things with us and
us with them. People will start to realise that we are going to be
there for them if they need someone to talk to. We will be around the
same areas on the same nights, constantly being there for them. The
street teams will be of three people in a group so that it is safe for
the workers and unthreatening for the people on the streets. Initially
two teams will be starting the work with the hope to expand.
If we
don’t get to talk to many people initially the teams will spend time
praying for the areas of contact, this is a very valuable part of the
ministry.
The street
teams started work at the beginning of December 2003 in Cotgrave on Saturday
nights. There is a huge need for some
street outreach for the youth of Cotgrave that hang around the precinct
and local shopping areas. Please pray for the teams on these Saturday
nights.
In
Jan 2004 teams
started outreach into Edwalton, around the
church area and local parks and shops. This is taking place on
Monday nights.
Again please pray for Gods direction and insight into this work.
Isaiah 57:14“Build
up, build up, prepare the road! Remove the obstacles out of the way of
my people.”
Isaiah 58:6-9“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of
injustice and untie the chords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free
and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and
to provide the poor wanderer with shelter- when you see the naked, to
clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then
your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly
appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the
Lord will be your rear guard. Then you will call, and the Lord will
answer; you will cry for help and he will say: Here am I.
Isaiah 58:11-12
The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a
sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a
well-watered garden, like a spring whose water never fails. Your people
will rebuild the ancient ruins and will raise up the age-old
foundations; you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of
Streets with Dwellings.
God's
calling to be Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with
Dwellings has currently been accepted by eight members of the church and many more
have accepted their responsibilities to be praying for the teams.
God has
promised that when we cry for help, he will say; Here am I. The teams
are trusting God for His protection and His direction. We will be
dressed with the full armour of God, (Ephesians 6:10-17) ready to stand
firm for Jesus in any situation we may find.
