Various people have contributed with articles and suggestions and
that is how it should be. This Church (like every other
one) is made up of a 'body of believers' and we regularly remind each
other that it is the people and not the building
that makes ‘church’.
We are a group of people – men and women, boys and girls, old and
young, single, married, divorced, widowed and engaged, all from
differing backgrounds and ethnic origins – our 'humanity' speaks for its
self and even when we agree with the bible that we are "saints" its with
a little 's' and very much tongue in cheek!
The past fifty plus years of our church history have seen many faces
come and go, many have moved with job relocation, some fellowship
elsewhere, some have died some sadly have left the faith and are not
going on with God as He would expect them to. But despite all the
comings and goings, our doors are open to
all who would seek to know, love and serve the
LORD
Jesus Christ and
fulfill His mandate to go and make disciples.
None of us here at Wellin Lane are perfect, rather, we are all on a
journey through life, wanting to become the person that would bring
honour to Jesus. It is because we are not perfect or complete that we
seek to welcome into this church all and every one who is open to the
drawing, transforming and liberating power of the Gospel.
We sing with gusto and feeling 'I get so excited Lord when I
realise - I’m forgiven, I’m forgiven!' Singing and
exuberant times of worship have been one of our traditions – prayer
and the study of God’s Word also, and commitment to the ongoing
activities at home and abroad with our Missions work is encouraged. We
are seeking to involve everybody, to encourage recognition of each
individual’s gifting and calling, that they may be equipped, empowered
and released to be fulfilled in their different gifts, strengths and
abilities.
The above is partly theoretical but is also actually being worked out
in many of our lives – I believe that the only real way of
experiencing something is to get involved and to become a part in it!
If you want to know more – and do not belong to a church which
builds you up, involves you and has a God given vision – you are
invited to come and see!
You will be made most welcome and I look forward to meeting you!
